Only 2 rides today, but they were big ones totaling to over $114. I was able to confirm the confirmation that the traffic on FM620 sucks out loud at 4:30 in the afternoon. It makes for a very long trip from Cedar Park to Bee Cave, and an even longer trip from Bee Cave to Taylor. Have a look at the accidental photo below and comment about where the location is.
I was remembering back in the traffic helicopter days in DFW when the traffic reporter for KEGL would always make a big deal when he would spot a car fire. From one story that was told, I think they even landed the helicopter and took pictures. There used to be a lot more traffic helicopters than there are now but this post is not about traffic helicopters. This post is more in the direction of car fires!
As I was heading east on 45 Tollway, I could see a barely visible column of smoke just past where 45 merges onto 130 Tollway going north. The traffic was bad and was going slow. The smoke increased from what could have been mistaken for truck exhaust, to something that appeared to be more serious. As I reached the top of the ramp, it looked like the world below was on fire. Then I saw the source of the smoke. In the middle of a huge baseball field sized area was this little riding lawn mower that was engulfed in the fieriest hell you could imagine. I didn't think there was enough flammable material on that thing to fuel the inferno that I was witnessing. There is definitely going to need to be some sod, mulch, are a sculpture of some kind to cover up the black crispy hole that is going to be left once they move the molten carcass of that lawn mower out of there.
The last trip was a personal record for the most earnings in a single trip at $79.24
